Post-jam Rework


I decided to continue work on this project for now.

Patch notes:

  • The skills for player and enemies are now randomized. There is a seperate skill pool for the player and each enemy.
  • For now, the skill pools are just the sets of 4 that were previously used to fill the wheel. I plan to expand them soon.
  • Each type of skill can appear at most 2 times (per fighter, that is: you may have 2 Dodge-type skills, and your enemy, too).
  • Added the ability to redraw a new set  of skill for the wheel in combat.
  • Added the ability to rotate the wheel in combat and preparation.
  • To use these 2 new abilities, a new resource, "Favor", is needed - 2 for rotate and 4 for redraw.
  • Favor is gained from wheel persuasions (right and left on the world wheel). For now these work exactly like in Oblivion (but at least there are no more fake wheels). Likes and dislikes are randomized every turn of the world wheel.
  • You need to win 12 (from 4) fights now in order to unlock the shield wheel (to unlock the ending).
  • The game now starts at -90° on the world wheel instead of 0° - meaning: the player will go through preparation and 2 persuasions before entering combat the first time.
  • Made credits more comprehensive and moved them to a separate window.
  • Upgraded the project to Unity 2022.3 (from 2019.4) - main benefit: browser version should now be displayed correctly even on mobile (hopefully).
  • (Warning: worst practices): I learned that disabling the Audio Listener is not the intended way to control sound in Unity. Sound is now controlled by a slider hooked to an audio mixer, a setup that should actually work and not spam thousands of error warnings.
  • Replaced some text boxes with slightly nicer ones.
